Royal Enfield Scram 440: The Adventure Gets a Bigger Boost
Royal Enfield Scram 440
Royal Enfield has redefined the adventure motorcycle market with the unveiling of the new Scram 440, priced at ₹2.08 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). Building on the legacy of its predecessor, the Scram 411, the 2025 Scram 440 comes with several significant upgrades, including a larger engine, enhanced performance, and new tech features, making it a more refined and capable companion for both urban commuting and off-road exploration.
A Powerful New Engine for Enhanced Performance
The Scram 440 is powered by a robust 443cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that now delivers 25.4 bhp at 6,250 rpm and 34 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Compared to the older 411 model, this new engine configuration offers a 4.5% increase in power and a 6.5% improvement in torque, translating to better acceleration and smoother performance in different riding conditions. A key update is the larger bore size, which enhances low-end torque and ensures quicker throttle response.
Additionally, the Scram 440 now comes with a more modern 6-speed gearbox, replacing the older 5-speed unit. The new transmission is paired with a lighter clutch, which improves the overall rideability and makes it easier to handle on both highways and off-road tracks. These upgrades make the Scram 440 feel more responsive, whether you’re cruising on the streets or tackling rough terrain.
Hardware That Matches the Adventure Spirit
The Scram 440’s hardware package is designed to take on a variety of terrains. It features a front 19-inch wheel with a 100/90 profile tyre, while the rear is fitted with a 17-inch wheel and a 120/90 profile tyre. This setup, coupled with a new suspension configuration, ensures that riders enjoy a comfortable and stable ride, even on uneven surfaces. The 41mm front forks offer 190mm of wheel travel, while the rear monoshock provides 180mm of travel, offering excellent comfort for long-distance touring and off-road exploration.
Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, providing ample stopping power. Moreover, the Scram 440 comes equipped with dual-channel ABS for added safety, with a switchable rear ABS option that provides more control during off-road riding. The choice of tubed or tubeless tyres further enhances convenience, allowing riders to choose according to their preference or riding needs.
Adventure-Ready Design and Features
The Scram 440 sports a rugged yet refined design, featuring a mix of classic styling and modern elements. Its all-LED headlight and taillight provide enhanced visibility and a contemporary look, while the halogen indicators maintain a bit of old-school charm. The motorcycle is equipped with a versatile analog-digital instrument console, with the option to add the Tripper Pod for precise turn-by-turn navigation, making it a perfect tool for explorers.
For added convenience, the Scram 440 includes a USB Type-A charging port, allowing you to keep your devices powered during long rides. The newly designed single-piece saddle ensures greater comfort on extended trips, reducing fatigue and enhancing the overall riding experience.
Two Variants for Different Riders
The Scram 440 is offered in two variants: Trail and Force. The Trail variant is available in Blue and Green, with traditional spoke wheels and tubed tyres, making it ideal for riders who prefer a more classic, rugged off-road look. On the other hand, the Force variant is available in Blue, Grey, and Teal, and comes with modern alloy wheels and tubeless tyres, catering to those who want a more contemporary setup with less maintenance.
Scram 440: Prices and Availability
The Scram 440 is available at two price points depending on the variant. The Trail variants are priced at ₹2.08 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai), while the Force variants come in at ₹2.15 lakh. With its impressive combination of power, performance, and versatility, the Scram 440 is poised to be a major player in the adventure segment.
Why the Scram 440 Stands Out
What sets the Scram 440 apart is its balanced blend of performance and practicality. Whether you are an urban rider or an adventure enthusiast, it offers the ideal mix of power, comfort, and control. The Scram 440’s updated features, including the more powerful engine, upgraded suspension, and modern tech offerings, make it a strong contender in the ever-growing adventure motorcycle market.
