Salman Khan Murder Plot:- Court Grants Bail to Two Accused in the Case
Salman Khan Murder Plot
In a significant development, the Bombay High Court has granted bail to two individuals arrested in connection with the alleged conspiracy to murder Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The court’s decision came on February 6, 2025, when Justice N. R. Borkar ruled that there was insufficient evidence to keep Gaurav Bhatia (alias Sandeep Bishnoi) and Wasim Mehmud Khan (alias Wasim Chikna) in custody. The men were allegedly involved in a plot to assassinate Salman Khan, which is believed to have been orchestrated by the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The case dates back to last year when the police unearthed a complex plan that allegedly targeted the Bollywood superstar. The plot was said to involve surveillance on Khan’s Panvel farmhouse, his Bandra residence, and other locations he frequented, including film shooting sites. The arrested men were among the 18 suspects named in the investigation. The police’s primary suspects include key members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, such as Lawrence Bishnoi himself, who is currently imprisoned in Ahmedabad, his brother Anmol, and several other individuals associated with the group.
The court’s decision to grant bail to the two men came as a result of what it considered a lack of substantial evidence. Justice Borkar emphasized that, while the two accused were found to be members of a WhatsApp group in which discussions about the alleged assassination plot took place, there was no concrete evidence linking them directly to the crime. “Apart from their involvement in the WhatsApp group, no incriminating evidence was found,” the court stated. The defense argued that the charges were fabricated, possibly to garner media attention, and pointed out that one of the co-accused, Deepak Gogoi, had already been granted bail in 2024.
The prosecution had alleged that Gaurav and Wasim were involved in carrying out reconnaissance for the plot, which involved collecting information on Salman Khan’s movements and locations. This included visiting Khan’s residence and various filming locations where the actor was scheduled to appear. However, the defense denied these allegations, asserting that the accused had no ties to the Bishnoi gang and had not participated in any such conspiracy.
Salman Khan’s Bandra apartment
The case gained national attention following the shocking incident in April 2024, when two members of the Bishnoi gang fired shots outside Salman Khan’s Bandra apartment. This led to the formation of a larger investigation, eventually uncovering the alleged murder plot. The FIR filed by the police named several prominent figures in the Bishnoi gang, including Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldie Brar, and Sampat Nehra, all of whom have long been associated with criminal activities and have been linked to various violent incidents.
The police investigation also revealed alarming details about the scale of the planned attack. It was discovered that one of the accused had reached out to a Pakistan-based individual to obtain AK-47 rifles, which were intended to be used in the assault on Khan. The conspirators reportedly planned to regroup in Kanyakumari before attempting to flee to Sri Lanka. These revelations have raised concerns about the extent to which the Bishnoi gang was willing to go in its pursuit of revenge against the actor.
Despite the charges, the defense lawyers for Gaurav Bhatia and Wasim Khan strongly maintained that their clients were innocent and that no substantial evidence tied them to the conspiracy. The defense also highlighted that the charges were largely based on circumstantial evidence, such as the WhatsApp group and the general nature of the investigation, rather than solid proof of their involvement in the crime.
The court’s decision to grant bail to the two men has sparked a new round of debates regarding the effectiveness of evidence used in high-profile criminal cases. While the bail was granted, the investigation into the conspiracy continues, with police working to track down other members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and gather additional evidence.
This case highlights not only the high-stakes world of Bollywood, but also the dangerous influence that criminal gangs wield over the entertainment industry. With the investigation still ongoing, many are left to wonder whether the plot against Salman Khan was truly foiled or if further plans may still be in the works. The case also brings into focus the complexities of dealing with organized crime, where the lines between real threats and sensationalized charges can sometimes be difficult to distinguish.
For now, Gaurav Bhatia and Wasim Khan will remain free on bail as the investigation progresses, leaving the public and media to wait for further developments in what has become a case full of intrigue, danger, and unanswered questions.
