The Mohanlal starrer is competing with its rival Marco and Rifle Club in Kerala. The Malayalam film, which is also Mohanlal’s directorial debut, has done quite well at the ticket windows.
Mohanlal himself is playing the lead role in the children’s fantasy film Barroz. Barroz is one of Ashirvad’s biggest films.
Meanwhile, movie lovers are eagerly waiting to see if Barroz is able to top the list of highest-grossing films of 2024. What’s also special is that Barroz is being released as a pan-India film.
Barroz has earned an advance of over Rs 1 crore in Kerala alone. The film features some of the best actors and musicians in the world. The songs are composed by 19-year-old musical genius Lydian Nadhaswaram.
Unni Mukundan’s film ‘Marco’, which was well received by the audience, ‘Rifle Club’ directed by Aashiq Abu and ‘Baby John’ starring Varun Keerthy Suresh are all doing well in theatres. Marco earned Rs 4.65 crore on the first day itself. By the sixth day, the film has earned Rs 25 crore. But viewers are eager to see if Burroughs will take on Marco at the box office.

It earned Rs 3.25 crore on the first day. The fantasy drama, which did not receive much hype among cinema lovers, has still done well.
The reviews are mixed and good. Mohanlal’s star power has played a vital role in pulling the audience to the theatres on the first day. Also, its release date was on Christmas day, which has helped the film a lot.
On the first day, Kerala theatres recorded 57.22 per cent occupancy. The morning show occupancy was 49.56 per cent. In the afternoon, it rose to 59.39 per cent. By the evening, it rose to 65.36 per cent and by the second show, it was 45.55 per cent.
This is the report provided by leading trackers Jack Nilak. Kochi recorded 68.75 per cent occupancy out of 127 shows. In Thiruvananthapuram, 114 shows were held with 52.5 per cent occupancy.
The opening collection of Burrows is significantly lower than Mohanlal’s previous release Malaikottai Valiban, which earned Rs 5.65 crore on its first day.
Mufasa: The Lion King and Pushpa 2: The Rule, released in multiple languages in India and going strong in its third week, will compete with Burrows at the box office.

All of them launched the trailer of its dubbed version ahead of its release. It is worth noting that the Hindi version of this Mohanlal starrer will hit the screens on December 27, 2024.
Before the failure of Malaikottai Valiban this year, Mohanlal worked in Neru in 2023. It remains to be seen whether his recent release Barroz will be a success in 3D and IMAX 3D formats in theatres.
