The release date for the 1st movie in Demon Slayer’s highly anticipated finale trilogy may have just been leaked
The release date for the first movie in Demon Slayer’s highly anticipated finale trilogy may have just been leaked, much to the excitement of fans. Previously, there were reports indicating that the Infinity Castle movie would hit theaters in 2025. However, recent leaks have narrowed this window down significantly, though we still have a few months to wait before Tanjiro’s final battle unfolds on the big screen.
An untitled film listed on the French website of Sony Pictures, in collaboration with Crunchyroll and Aniplex, was originally set for release on September 17, 2025, but has since been removed. Additionally, a German cinema chain revealed, and later retracted, information about the Infinity Castle movie’s release in the country on September 25, 2025. Could this September release be the official date for the long-awaited conclusion of Tanjiro’s journey?
While confirmation is still pending, the “event film” tag attached to these listings suggests that Infinity Castle will be one of the most significant anime releases of 2025. The staggered international release model that anime films often follow makes September a strong contender for the global debut of the film.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will adapt one of the final and most intense arcs from Koyoharu Gotouge’s beloved manga. The upcoming movie trilogy will see Tanjiro and the elite demon slayers, known as the Hashira, fighting to survive in the ominous Infinity Castle, which serves as the lair of the world’s deadliest demons, including the infamous Muzan Kibutsuji, the series’ primary antagonist. The stakes have never been higher, and the battle within this dangerous and ever-shifting space promises to be an epic conclusion to the saga.
2025 is shaping up to be a massive year for anime, with Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle standing out among other major releases. Alongside it, My Hero Academia will wrap up its eighth season, Solo Leveling will return for its second season, and One-Punch Man will premiere its third season. Additionally, fans can look forward to Shinichirō Watanabe’s new series Lazarus, which will air on Adult Swim. Yet, even amid this competition, Demon Slayer is expected to dominate, with Infinity Castle poised to be one of the year’s biggest draws.
Demon Slayer
In terms of box office potential, Demon Slayer has already proven its massive appeal. The franchise’s previous movie, Mugen Train, achieved incredible success, grossing over $500 million worldwide and becoming a global phenomenon. This success has set high expectations for the Infinity Castle movie, which is likely to continue the trend of impressive box office results.
The movie’s release is expected to play a crucial role in Toho’s financial success, as the company predicts significant revenue growth in 2025. Toho’s CEO, Ichikawa Minami, highlighted that the Japanese film industry is projected to generate around 2024 billion yen in revenue, with Toho contributing an estimated 91-92 billion yen. This would surpass the revenue figures from 2016, when the anime hit Your Name was released.
Given the tremendous success of the Demon Slayer franchise and the anticipation surrounding Infinity Castle, many industry observers are expecting the trilogy to be a major milestone for both Toho and the anime market in general.
Mitsutaka Yoshida, a key figure at Toho, previously noted that the first Demon Slayer film helped revitalize the Japanese film industry following the pandemic. The continued success of the series, combined with its widespread popularity and its ability to attract both loyal fans and new viewers, ensures that Infinity Castle will be a cinematic event.
The upcoming movie will follow the story where season four of the series left off, with Muzan trapping the demon slayers in the Infinity Castle—a dangerous dimension created by his minions. This arc is one of the longest in the manga, spanning a total of 47 chapters, and will serve as the backdrop for what promises to be an intense and visually stunning showdown. As the Hashira and Tanjiro face off against Muzan and his Upper Rank demons, the movie will bring the series to its thrilling and inevitable climax.
While the exact release date remains uncertain, these leaks point toward a September 2025 premiere, and the excitement surrounding Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is only growing. Fans can’t wait to see how the final battle unfolds on the big screen, with the movie set to close one of anime’s most beloved and successful sagas.
