Game Changer Box Office Collection Day 4: Ram Charan’s Film Experiences Sharp Decline Amidst Allegations of Faked Numbers

Game Changer Box Office Collection Day 4

Ram Charan’s much-awaited political drama, Game Changer, which also stars Kiara Advani, had a strong opening on its first day but has witnessed a steady decline in its box office collections ever since. The film, which had earned a notable ₹51 crore on its opening day in India, faced a significant drop in its second day, grossing ₹21.6 crore. The downward trend continued on day three with a further dip of 26.39 percent, bringing in just ₹15.9 crore. By day four, Game Changer saw an even sharper fall, with the film making only ₹8.5 crore on its first Monday.

As of now, the film’s total domestic collection stands at approximately ₹97 crore. Industry experts suggest that it is likely to cross ₹100 crore by the end of its fifth day, but the rapid decline in daily earnings raises questions about the film’s long-term prospects. The film’s overall occupancy rate was also low, with its Telugu shows seeing only 20.58 percent attendance, Tamil shows at 14.22 percent, and Hindi shows struggling with just 8.16 percent occupancy, according to trade portal Sacnilk.

The disappointing box office performance has sparked concerns and criticisms from multiple quarters, especially considering the hype that surrounded Game Changer ahead of its release. The political thriller, directed by Sreenu Vaitla, had generated considerable buzz, but the consistent drop in earnings suggests that the film failed to sustain the initial excitement.

One of the major issues the film is facing is the competition from other big releases, such as Daaku Maharaaj and Pushpa 2, which have already attracted a large portion of the audience, especially in the Sankranthi festive season. Game Changer also entered a crowded space with Daaku Maharaaj releasing just two days after it, leaving the audience spoilt for choice. This competition has, undoubtedly, contributed to the film’s struggles at the box office.

Another major factor in the film’s box office woes is the controversy surrounding the reported collections. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been particularly vocal about the allegations of faked box office numbers, calling out the makers for supposedly inflating the film’s earnings. In a post on X, Varma criticized the film’s team, suggesting that the inflated figures were an attempt to mislead the audience.

“If Baahubali and RRR elevated Telugu cinema to a new level with genuine box office records, the team behind Game Changer has proven that the South industry can also engage in such fraud,” Varma wrote, referring to the fake numbers. According to him, the alleged falsification of numbers undermines the accomplishments of past films that truly broke records, such as Baahubali, KGF: Chapter 2, and RRR.

The controversy stems from discrepancies in the reported box office numbers. While Game Changer’s official social media pages claimed that the film had earned ₹186 crore worldwide on its opening day, industry insiders and trade analysts have contested these numbers. According to reports, the film’s actual worldwide collection on opening day was around ₹80 crore, with ₹51 crore coming from India and the rest from overseas markets. The claim of ₹186 crore was widely dismissed as an exaggerated figure, leading to backlash and calls for more transparency in reporting box office figures.

The accusations of inflated earnings have put the film in an even more difficult position, especially in a time when audiences are increasingly skeptical about the authenticity of box office reports. Fans and critics alike have raised concerns over the ethical practices surrounding the way collections are reported and how it can mislead the public.

In addition to the controversies, Game Changer has also received mixed reviews from audiences. Despite the star power of Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, the film’s screenplay and execution have not met the expectations of many, contributing to the declining interest over the weekend.

As Game Changer enters its second week, it will face even tougher competition. While it may have had a strong start, the film’s prospects for a successful run now depend on how it performs in the coming days. The controversy surrounding the alleged fake box office numbers could hurt its reputation, further affecting its audience appeal.

The situation underscores the unpredictable nature of the film industry, where an opening weekend may not always guarantee long-term success. For Game Changer, the road ahead seems uncertain as it continues to grapple with declining collections, ongoing competition, and the cloud of controversy. How the film fares in the coming weeks will determine if it can recover or if its box office journey will remain a cautionary tale about inflated numbers and audience trust.
