On Saturday, Atlee was seen on an episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show along with Baby John actors Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Vamika Gabbi. In one of the segments, Kapil is seen asking Atlee, “When you meet a star for the first time, do they ask, where is Atlee?”
Replying to Kapil, Atlee said, “In a way I understood your question. I will try to answer. I am really very grateful to AR Murugadoss sir because he made my first film. He asked for a script, but he didn’t see how I look or whether I am capable of it or not.
But, he liked my narration. I think the world should see that. We should not judge by appearance. You should judge by your heart.” This did not go down well with many social media users who found it offensive and termed it a racist comment.

On Tuesday, Kapil reacted to the ongoing controversy on the, also known as Twitter. Atlee replied like a boss: Judge by heart, not by looks”. The post had a clip of the duo’s conversation from the web show.
Reacting to this, Kapil wrote, “Dear Sir, can you please explain to me when and where did I talk about looks in this video? Please don’t spread hate on social media (folded hands emoji) thank you. (Guys watch and decide for yourselves, don’t follow anyone’s tweets like sheep)”.
This is the first time Kapil Sharma has reacted to the criticism he is receiving for the joke.
