Shark Tank India Season 4: Vinita Singh jokes that Kunal Bahl will ‘steal the show’ wearing a lehenga choli; find out why The second episode of the new season saw Gujarat-based entrepreneur Mayur pitch his lehenga brand BL Fabrics to a panel of ‘sharks’. Returning ‘sharks’ this season were Ritesh Agarwal, Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta and Vinita Singh, along with Kunal Bahl.
Piyush Bansal and Anupam Mittal were absent in this episode. Aman was at his usual best during the pitch, cracking jokes on both Vinita and Kunal. Mayur sought funding of Rs 1 crore in exchange for 2% equity, valuing his brand at Rs 50 lakh.
The ‘sharks’ were all impressed with Mayur’s brand, but they were particularly impressed with his social media skills. Mayur said his brand has a combined total of 3 million followers on YouTube and Instagram. While giving a presentation of his social media platform, Mayur said that his most viral reel has received 47 million views.
Namita was stunned. “Is he serious?” she commented, asking Ritesh to physically verify this claim. Ritesh got up from his chair and walked to the display screen, and was surprised to learn that Mayur’s claims were indeed true.
The ‘shark’ asked Mayur who handles his social media, and was even more surprised to learn that he does it all single-handedly. Aman looked at Vinita and said, “Fire your team immediately.” Namita said, “I have a whole team that handles my content, there is another team that creates videos, and a third team that creates strategies.
We have agencies! And here you are doing everything yourself! And you are doubling your revenue because of it. You went from Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore and then Rs 17 crore. Vinita said she feels his operation is ‘not investable’ at the moment, even though he is projecting a revenue of Rs 17 crore this year.
Namita was also unsure about investing in him, as he does not have another person to run the operations in his place. But Ritesh and Kunal showed interest and offered Mayur a deal for Rs 1 crore, but in exchange for 5% equity. Aman recused himself from the talks and played the role of mediator.
In the second episode of Shark Tank India Season 4, Mayur Gedia, founder of BL Fabrics, challenged the Sharks to guess the price of a lehenga. Find out how Vinita Singh joined in the prank with Kunal Bahl.
During the second episode of Shark Tank India Season 4, the Sharks faced a unique challenge from Mayur Bharatbhai Gedia, founder of Surat-based BL Fabrics. After several lehenga-cholis were displayed, Gedia asked the Sharks to guess the price of a blue lehenga.
“Whoever guesses correctly will get the lehenga,” Gedia said. “This is a trending lehenga. Ye pehle kar jaho bhi jaoge, chha jaoge.” Snapdeal and Titan Capital co-founder Kunal Bahl started the guessing game. He said the price would be ₹3,000.
Sug Cosmetics co-founder Vinita Singh said, “I will guess a low price because I want to win.” Her guess was ₹1,800. OYO Rooms CEO Ritesh Agarwal put in a lower price with ₹1,500, while Emcure Pharmaceuticals executive director Namita Thapar put in an even lower price with ₹1,400. Boat Lifestyle co-founder Aman Gupta put in a higher price with ₹5,000.
Next, the Shark Tank India season 4 contestant revealed the price as ₹3,799, which meant Kunal Bahl emerged as the winner. To this, Vinita mimicked the claim made earlier by the BL Fabrics founder and quipped, “You will steal the show wherever you go wearing this.”
BL Fabric gets the deal
According to the founder, BL Fabric specializes in three types of embroidery: sequin work, thread work, and zari work. Over the past three years, the company claims to have served over 65,000 customers.
During an episode of Shark Tank India Season 4, Gedia’s pitch impressed the sharks. While he initially asked for ₹1 crore for 2% equity with a valuation of ₹50 crore, he received a joint conditional offer from Ritesh Agarwal and Kunal Bahl: ₹1 crore for 5% equity. The deal included a clause that allowed Mayur to take back 1% equity if BL Fabric achieved sales of ₹15 crore during FY 24-25.
